Brethren

In 1904, the Church of the Brethren settled the "middle belt of Manistee County" with about 500 supporters, allowing the first settlers to utilize the area's natural resources and enjoy the natural beauty of Brethren. Their heritage is still evident today with churches throughout Michigan and the United States.

Today, that same allure brings visitors to the area to experience first hand an outdoor lovers dream. It's home to the famous Tippy Dam on the Manistee Rivers' World class trout and salmon fishing waters. And if that's not enough, warm weather offers hiking, camping, canoeing and all season fishing on its lakes, trout streams and rivers. Cooler weather brings hunting, snowmobiling cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. Come bask in Brethren's soft spoken presence--a small town with a big heart.

Located in the heart of the Manistee National Forest, Brethren is in eastern Manistee County, north of M-55 on High Bridge Road. (County 669)
